Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she supported by EarthGang. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album the same name. In February 2019, the music video for this track was launched. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
