Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable reports over the years, such as fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
